Happy Mother’s Day all of you awesome mamas out there!
We had a very exciting week with Thursday’s anatomy scan ultrasound. The news was good – we have a healthy, active baby! The baby was a little too active, so when I come back for my next ultrasound in 4 weeks to check for preterm labor signs, they’ll re-measure some things. But all said, we’re in a good place with nothing to worry about. Another fun part of the ultrasound is being able to peek at the baby’s “goods”, so we asked the ultrasound technician to write down the baby’s sex. That way, we could find out in our own time in our own way. And what better way to find out if we’re having a boy or girl then to bite into a delicious cupcake and take a peek inside?
First, we said our final guesses out loud. Levi was convinced we were having a girl, and my mind was all boy. Who do you think was right? Scroll down to see….

It’s a BOY!!!! A little brother for Isaac! We could not be any more excited about this news. We knew beforehand that we didn’t have a preference either way (I wouldn’t have picked one sex or the other given the choice!), but when we saw the blue frosting inside, it felt right. It was a highly emotional day for us! There were definitely some tears about not getting the girl I had started to imagine this one could be. We had picked out names for both genders, and it’s a bummer not to be able to use the perfect name we had for a girl since this is almost certainly our last baby. BUT we are so excited to have another little boy in the house, and it’s wonderful to be able to call him by his name (which will be revealed once we’ve signed the birth certificate)!
Basically, I’m going to be just like Diana and her two princes (also a little over two years apart). Can’t you just see Isaac making a face like that?
Later in day, we had some family members over to share the news. Again, we had everyone make their final guess before bringing out the cupcakes.
Isaac is still unaware that he will have a little brother later this year, but he sure did enjoy the cupcake anyway.
Thanks for reading, and we hope you enjoyed our surprise!
